Kitzur Shulchan Aruch, Shulchan Aruch & Aruch HaShulchan Online: Daily Halacha with Its Sources

shulchanarukh.cohenapps.com is a free online library of Halacha for study: the Kitzur Shulchan Aruch of Rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried, all four parts of Rabbi Yosef Karo's Shulchan Aruch (Orach Chayim, Yoreh De'ah, Even HaEzer and Choshen Mishpat) with the Rema's glosses, the Mishnah Berurah on Orach Chayim, and the Aruch HaShulchan of Rabbi Yechiel Michel Epstein. Read every siman seif by seif in the original Hebrew, vocalized where the edition allows, with English where a free translation exists. Follow two daily tracks, Halacha Yomit and Aruch HaShulchan Yomi, and ask Rabbi Ari, the AI rabbi, about any seif and its sources. Everything here is for study, not a practical ruling: for a question in your own situation, ask your rabbi. No signup required.

Frequently asked questions

What can I study here?

A Halacha library for study: the Kitzur Shulchan Aruch of Rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried, all four parts of Rabbi Yosef Karo's Shulchan Aruch (Orach Chayim, Yoreh De'ah, Even HaEzer and Choshen Mishpat) with the Rema's glosses, the Mishnah Berurah on Orach Chayim, and the Aruch HaShulchan of Rabbi Yechiel Michel Epstein. Every book is divided into simanim and seifim, and citations follow siman and seif, e.g. "Shulchan Aruch, Orach Chayim 275:3".

What is the daily Halacha?

Two daily tracks: Halacha Yomit, a few seifim each day in the customary study order, and Aruch HaShulchan Yomi, about eight seifim a day. Each day opens at that day's exact seif, with a streak tracker.

What languages are available?

Every book is in the original Hebrew. The Kitzur and three parts of the Shulchan Aruch (Orach Chayim, Yoreh De'ah, Even HaEzer) are vocalized (Torat Emet edition); Choshen Mishpat, the Aruch HaShulchan and the Mishnah Berurah are unvocalized. English appears wherever a free translation exists: the whole Kitzur (Rabbi Avrohom Davis, Metsudah, CC-BY), most of Orach Chayim and Even HaEzer, and part of Yoreh De'ah and Choshen Mishpat (Sefaria community translation).

How do the Shulchan Aruch, the Rema and the Kitzur differ?

Rabbi Yosef Karo's Shulchan Aruch rules by Sephardi custom, and the Rema's glosses add Ashkenazi custom. The Kitzur Shulchan Aruch is a concise digest of everyday Halacha following Ashkenazi custom, and the Aruch HaShulchan explains each law from its sources in the Talmud and the Rishonim.

Can I rely on it for a practical ruling?

No. Everything here is for study, not a practical ruling. Authorities and customs sometimes rule differently, so for a practical question in your own situation, ask your rabbi. Rabbi Ari, the AI rabbi, also brings sources for study and does not rule.

Is this site free to use?

Yes. Studying every book is free, with no signup. Premium removes ads and unlocks read-aloud audio and extended study chat with Rabbi Ari about the sources.
