6 The days [of the week] on which the New Moon of Adar might be fixed are: 7, 2, 4, 6. The mnemonic for the Sabbaths which are skipped is: 7-15, 2-6, 4-4, 6-2-16. This means: when the New Moon falls out on the Sabbath [i.e. the seventh day of the week], we skip the fifteenth of [Adar], and the mnemonic is 7-15; when it falls out on the second [day of the week], we skip the sixth [of Adar], and the mnemonic is 2-6; when it falls out on the fourth [day of the week], we skip the fourth of [Adar], and the mnemonic is 4-4; when it falls out on the sixth [day of the week], we skip two Sabbaths, the second and sixteenth [of Adar], and the mnemonic is 6-2-16.
