14 Admonition ( nezifa) is when an eminent person scorns another, saying "How rude they are!" and such things. This is the required behaviour of the scorned person: they should hide themselves, sit in their home and be ashamed; they should not show their face to the person who admonished them, reduce laughter and frivolity, and show all who are watching that they are troubled. But they do not have to cut themselves off from society, whether during meals or in social relations, and they do not have to act in a manner similar to those who are in mourning. They do not need to apologise to those to whom they were rude, and they do not need anybody to release them from the status of 'admonished', because as soon as the time is over they are released automatically. Rema: Even if the eminent person did not say anything explicitly, but one knows that they were silently offended, one should proactively take on the status of 'admonished'.
