Shulchan Aruch, Yoreh De'ah Siman 351

Siman 351

Presented here for study, not as a practical ruling. The Shulchan Aruch rules by Sephardi custom, the Rema's glosses by Ashkenazi custom, and the Kitzur follows Ashkenazi custom. For a practical question, ask your rabbi.

1 One is permitted to make the dead person's shrouds from diverse kinds.
2 One buries the dead only in a Talith that has Ẓizith. Rema: Some say that Ẓizith are not required; and the accepted practice is to bury him with Ẓizith, only that one first disqualifies the Ẓizith or one twines around one of the corners [ of the Talith ].
