1 That bread exempts the appetizer. 1 section: If one blessed over bread, it exempts the appetizer, meaning very finely crumbled bread mixed with soup or honey. If one blessed over the appetizer, it does not exempt the bread. Rema: If one blessed over the appetizer it exempts cooked dishes such as porridge and the like, and similarly if one blessed over a cooked dish it exempts the appetizer. (Gemara, ch. Keitzad Mevarkhim, and Rambam in his commentary to the Mishnah)
